First, some definitions. In this policy statement, “you” and derivative terms like yours, yourself, etc., refer to you, whether you are a visitor to our Site (as defined below) or a user of our Service (as defined below). The terms “Connect Us”, the “Company”, or “we” and its derivatives like our, ours, etc. refer to Connect Us.
When you visit our “Site,” defined to include http://cnect.us and its all subdomains, subfolders that we authorize, or use our “Service,” defined to include all telephony and video calling services we provide, there are two general categories of information that we may learn about you. The first is “computer identifying information” and the other is “personally identifying information”.
Computer identifying information is the information that is left by the computer or other internet-enabled device you use to access our Site or use the Service. It includes things like IP address, browser type, clickstreams, referring site, screen size and similar information communicated by the computer or other device you are using. Personally identifying information is information is limited to the information you chose to share with us in e.g. emails or by entering data in to our App. Computer identifying information does not normally include any personally identifying information, although some computer identifying information could conceivably lead to personally identifying information, if, e.g., the IP address from which you access the Site were subscribed in your own name.
Information You Give Us:
We receive and may store any information you enter on our website or give to our website in any other way.
Connect Us will only use computer identifying information and personally identifying information to serve your needs and will not intentionally release any information to any third party without your explicit approval, as set forth herein or unless compelled to do so by subpoena or other legal process.
When You Visit The Site:
When you visit the Site, you do so as an anonymous “Visitor” or, if you register and log in, as a “User” (defined below). The information you share with us depends on which role you are in – Visitor or User.
We may use a web analytics service (e.g., Google Analytics) which captures computer identifying information when you visit the Site as a Visitor or as a User. We use this information to inform our design decisions for the website or for marketing purposes. Cookies may be used to manage session based information intended to enhance your web viewing experience, e.g., by preserving information you might have selected or provided to the Site. We do not use any third party cookies, although Google analytics and other Google cookies may report to them activity you experience on our Site. See the privacy policies of Google for more information.
The Help portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether. Additionally, you can disable or delete similar data used by browser add-ons, such as Flash cookies, by changing the add-on’s settings or visiting the Web site of its manufacturer.
We engage in advertising campaigns whereby we inform visitors on other websites about the Connect Us Service. We invite them to “click through” to the Site to learn more about our Service and invite you to become a customer of Connect Us. Those advertising campaigns may very well direct you to a unique URL or provide other unique computer identifying information so that we can evaluate the effectiveness of the advertising campaign and/or make contractual payments to the referring site for the referral.
We may share aggregate statistical information regarding our visitors, users, customers, sales, traffic patterns, and Site usage with our commercial partners or with governmental agencies. None of this will include personally identifying information.
When You Register On The Site or Use the Service:
In the future, you may register as a User on our site. As a User, you will reveal certain personally identifying information, and you will have access to certain information or services that are not available to Visitors. Some Users may become “Customers,” buying products or Service from us. Customers will reveal personally identifying information that we request and use to provide the product or Service to them or to the people using an “Add-A- Line” Service purchased by the Customer.
The personally identifying information you provide us (sometimes augmented by commercially available databases) is the only personally identifying information we maintain and use, except as follows: If you have been referred to us by someone, or if you have responded to an offer or an advertisement, we may associate that information with your personally identifying information. If you elect to participate in our “Community” blog, the information you submit to the Community (e.g., comments on a story) will be personally identifying information that we collect and maintain. If you become a Customer, your purchase, usage and payment history will be maintained so that we can provide appropriate levels of customer service and determine if there are other, appropriate products or services to offer to you.
Many elements of personally identifying information will be viewable and editable by you, e.g., your email address, contact information or Service features. If you elect to receive our newsletter or other communications from us, we will use your email address or phone number to contact you. You may opt out of receiving phone calls or email messages containing newsletters or special offers by “unsubscribing” to these communications at any time. Connect Us honours requests from Customers to review all personally identifying information maintained in reasonably retrievable form, which currently consists of your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number and/or billing information, and will correct any such information which may be inaccurate. Customers may verify that appropriate corrections have been made.
Personally identifying information is used to verify, process and administer your product and service requests, assess credit-worthiness, maintain our commercial relationship with you, and analyse personally identifying information to better improve the products or Service that we offer. We may analyse personally identifying information in order to identify the products and Service offered by our affiliates or ourselves or by companies that we believe may be of interest to you, and to offer you those products and services. Where a third party or an affiliated company has a product or service that may be of interest to you, we may forward information relating to any such product or service to you.
We use your email address to send you bills, provision your Service, respond to questions you ask us or for certain administrative communications such as forgotten passwords. We may use your email address to send you email regarding the status of your user account. We never sell, rent, lease or give your email address or other personally identifying information to third parties, except as otherwise specified in this document.
Connect Us may provide public forums for our Users to read and share information with other individuals, including anonymous, public Visitors. Disclosing personally identifying information online through comments, blog posts, or other User generated content makes the information public information. Please be careful and use discretion when disclosing any personally identifying information in such a public forum.
Connect Us has arrangements with third parties to provide certain elements of the Service we provide to you. We use a third party billing service, and of course, credit card accounts are managed by our bank and data gateway vendors. Some elements of your personally identifying information may be visible to these vendors, but in all cases, we have secured contractual promises from them to maintain confidentiality of all personally identifying information.
Generally, we use personally identifying information for billing purposes, to provide and change service, to anticipate and resolve problems with your service, or to create and inform you of products and services that better meet your needs.
When you submit email addresses and SMS numbers to our servers for meeting invites:
We use the personally identifying information that you submit to us through the Application to distribute meeting invitations. The personally identifying information is stored in our database as means of authentication to the meeting spaces. The personally identifying information is purged from the system as soon as i.e. the meeting is scheduled to end. Or in the case of immediate meetings, within 24 hours.
We may provide aggregate statistics about customers, sales and traffic patterns. None of these reports or statistics will include personally identifying information. However, we reserve the right to use personally identifying information to investigate and help prevent potentially unlawful activity that threatens either Connect Us, or any company affiliated with Connect Us. Moreover, upon the appropriate request of a government agency, law enforcement agency, court or as otherwise required by law, we may disclose personally identifiable information without your consent or prior notice to you.
